01Clean Water

WATER is Life … Nothing is more important than keeping our WATER clean and free of pollution.

Purchasing and preserving natural areas to improve water quality is crucial to preserve the quality of life in Manatee County.

This proposal will:

  • Protect our drinking water sources
  • Prevent polluted stormwater runoff from flowing into bays, rivers, and creeks
  • Provide natural floodwater storage

02Future Generations

It is up to us to preserve Manatee County’s natural beauty for FUTURE GENERATIONS—once it is lost, it is gone forever. We must act now.

  • Protecting our water, wildlife habitat, and natural areas will preserve Manatee County’s natural beauty so our children and grandchildren can enjoy them.
  • We must act now to protect Manatee County’s last remaining natural areas and wildlife habitat before they are lost forever to development.

Land prices are rising dramatically, and the amount of natural lands are rapidly diminishing.

03Accountability

The proposal requires strict ACCOUNTABILITY provisions to ensure funds are properly spent.

  • This proposal requires that the funds can only be used for the purposes stated in the proposal.
  • It requires an annual public audit of how the funds are spent.

The cost is minimal. An average of $2.40 a month is a very small price to pay to purchase and protect natural areas and parks in Manatee County forever.

We are in a race against time

We face what may be the most formidable challenge to our environment and natural habitat of our time.
Over the next 25 years, the population in Manatee County is expected to grow by almost
40%.
By 2040, the demand for drinking water alone in Manatee County will increase by
30%.
